Afternoon Update

Good afternoon parents! Today the students jumped into the world of nanotechnology :)

Campers took a relaxing walk over to Berakhis Center to conduct an experiment where they got to make gold particles. They used a pipette to transfer solutions such as sodium chloride (table salt) and sodium hydroxide (in contact saline solution) into a flask, and then observed the change in color. Everyone enjoyed getting to be a chemist for a day. They even looked the part in their goggles and gloves.

While they weren't making gold particles campers got to play video games. Don't worry! The game was educational. Campers got to follow the adventures of a nano-sized adventurer named Harold in the video game Geckoman. Geckoman primarily teaches students about the NanoWorld with its main character Harold along with the big bad sheriff. Harold is shrunk down to nanoscale and through adhesion, is able to walk on the ceiling.

The students had an extra bit a fun today meeting 3 former members of Negro League Baseball. They attended an event called Legends of Negro League Baseball. The campers heard from the President and Board Member of Negro League Baseball Players Association. They got to ask question and take pictures and had an absolute blast!

Below is a link to some pictures and stay tuned for a few more later in the evening.
